At Fertility Center of California (FCC), we make every effort to ensure your comfort, confidentiality and convenience, as well as to keep you in the know. 1. What are the main criteria for becoming a sperm donor?

FCC accepts donors between the ages of 18 and 39 who are actively pursuing or have earned a college degree, and who engage in sexual intercourse with female partners only. We also require that donors are legally authorized to work in the United States and live within commuting distance of either our San Diego location or our Orange County location.

2. How much is sperm donor compensation?

FCC pays $60 for each passing collection, half of which is paid on a monthly basis. After a sperm specimen quarantine period of about six months, the sperm donor must test negative for infectious or genetic diseases. A negative result allows us to release the sperm specimen for clinical use, and the other half of the donor fee is paid at that time.

3. How much testing do sperm donors undergo?

Sperm donors must commit to a physical examination every six months, and blood / urine tests every three months. FCC donors also complete a detailed questionnaire with medical and genetic history.

4. Do I need to abstain from sex before making a donation?

Yes, it’s very important that sperm donors practice abstinence for at least three days prior to donating a specimen. This ensures the viability of sperm samples.

5. How many donations can I make?

At FCC, we ask our sperm donors to commit to a minimum of 12 months in our anonymous sperm donor program. We allow one or two donations per week during that time.
